Kite for the Bay
Crissy Field to Berkeley Downwinder: Register Now!

Have you ever watched a beautiful windy day pass you by because the water quality was too poor to risk kiting?  Or, more likely, have you ended up sick because you dared to kiteboard after a storm flushed run-off and sewage into the bay? (nearly 250 million gallons of undertreated sewage has been dumped into the bay this past rainy season!) As kiteboarders we appreciate some of the best the Bay has to offer, but we also feel the direct effects of pollution.  We have a stake in fighting to keep our water clean.

With that in mind, Live2kite kiteboarding shop and school and San Francisco Baykeeper are pleased to announce the first 2011 inaugural Kite for the Bay Downwinder, a noncompetitive kiteboarding event to benefit San Francisco Baykeeper's successful work to protect the Bay.  On Saturday, June 11th, we welcome you to join us and kite down-wind approximately 10 miles from Crissy Field to Berkeley.  Your registration will cover the costs of the event, and our aim is to deliver 50% of registration dollars directly to Baykeeper to continue its good work.

FUNDRAISING
The kiteboarding community is already invested in the quality of the Bay, and we’d like to use the strength of our community to positively impact the water we love.  We invite and encourage you to raise money for and awareness of San Francisco Baykeeper as a part of your participation in the downwinder.  It’s easy: pick a target that’s reasonable for you: $25, $50, $100, $500, $1000 or more, send an email to friends / family / or organizations and as them to help you meet your fundraising goal!  Their tax-deductible gifts will go directly to supporting Baykeeper’s work to protect San Francisco Bay from pollution.  For the kiter who raises the most for this event (We are aiming at $500, and hope to get royally defeated), Live2kite will reward an HD cam plus everlasting respect.
