We are back from AWSI in Hood River, and this was the biggest year AXIS has ever had at the show. Nine new products went live on 9 September. We spent most of it at the AXIS booth going through the gear with the AXIS crew, then down at the Gorge watching it get ridden, which is the part of this show that tells you anything. Here is what we brought home, with what stood out to us about each one.
Surge 1240
The Surge range now goes big. The 1240 is 1240 mm of span on a 142 mm chord, aspect ratio 11.48, and the thing worth understanding is that AXIS raises aspect ratio as the Surge grows, so the big one is not simply the small one scaled up. What it means on the water is that the low-end lift and the easy pumping you want from a wing this size arrive without the speed and glide going away.
If you have been riding a Spitfire 1180 or a large Fireball for light wind and downwind days, this is the direct replacement. AXIS has tested it dock starting, downwind, on the parawing, winging and SUP foiling. Shipping now.
Power Carbon FATTY Integrated E-Foil Mast 800
The integrated Foil Drive mast range gets a FATTY. Eight hundred millimetres of Power Carbon, the motor sitting low for uninterrupted thrust, and the deep FATTY fuselage connection behind it. Foil assist punishes a flexy mast more than anything else you can do on a foil, and this is the stiffest way AXIS has built one. FATTY fuselages only, like the rest of the FATTY masts. Available now.
Frank Mako 2 downwind boards
The thing we liked most about the Mako 2 is what Frank did not do. The original Mako set the benchmark for stability and easy paddle-ups, so rather than start again he went at the details: a new nose profile, revised rocker, a refined bottom for acceleration and forgiving touchdowns, a slightly wider outline and a reworked deck that puts you closer to the foil. It releases earlier, which is exactly what you need now that so many of us are downwinding on smaller, faster, higher aspect foils. Five sizes, 90 to 130 litres, AXIS carbon throughout. Dock 880
Adrian Roper shaped this one to what the AXIS pump team asked for, and every decision points the same way. Shorter, to cut swing weight. Three hundred grams lighter than the Dock Carbon 899. Long foil tracks so you can actually find your balance point. A concave deck for feel, and reduced rail bevels for a flatter base. If you pump, you already know whether you want this. Pocket Trench 50 and 60
The Pocket Trench (patented) now covers foil-assist riders of every size, with 50 and 60 litre versions joining the 40. The idea is simple and it is the reason the board works: instead of cutting a bulky trench into the base, a recessed pocket lets the Foil Drive sit inside it, so there is much less drag on take-off and the touchdowns stay smooth under motor. The same thinking produced the AXIS tracks and sliders, which give the quickest battery swap of any trench board we have handled. Purpose-made M7 and M8 bolt kits for the Fusion and the standard Foil Drive.
The Black aluminium mast system
This is the quiet one that matters to the most people. The AXIS aluminium mast was already the stiffest going, so for 2026 they re-engineered everything around it. The base plate is CNC machined from one billet of aircraft-grade aluminium, with a tapered mast pocket and a split cross-stabilising bolt faired into the bevel. The Doodad gains support legs that add lateral stiffness and take torsional load off the mast sidewalls. And there is a FATTY Doodad for the first time, which puts a 19 mm aluminium mast on a FATTY fuselage. All of it black anodised. Seven lengths, 45 to 105 cm, pre-order now.
Ultrashort aluminium rear adapter for the Ti Link
The Ti Link takes Skinny Link rears directly, and the aluminium adapter opens the rest of the AXIS rear wing range to it. The new Ultrashort takes the Ti Link to its shortest setting: quicker in pitch, tighter in a turn, more playful in the pocket. Small steep waves and tight pumping. Available now alongside the Short.
