Crozon, race two: the same three AXIS winners

Two races, the same three AXIS winners. In the second downwind race of the Crozon Foil Festival in Brittany on 17 October, Kai Thompson won again, Marnie Bertram, 16, was again the first woman home, and Philippe Axmann again won the men's over-40s.
The race
71 riders started from Morgat at 14:30 in a building north-east wind and raced 18 km across the Baie de Douarnenez to the Pointe de Brézellec. Kai won in 48:51.9, more than a minute ahead of Axel Pham, the new French champion, with Jarrod Snow third. Raiarii Fadier finished seventh, and the Haumani twins, Toaura and Haunui, eighth and ninth.

Marnie won the women's race in 1:03:12.8, 32.7 seconds ahead of Naumi Eychenne, a few hours after finishing second to Naumi in the women's Surf Foil final at La Palue, in waves of nearly two metres. Philippe won the over-40s in 59:55.1.

Kai races on the AXIS Kaiwi, the gold ultra high modulus mast in the first picture, and Marnie on an AXIS + Frank downwind board.
On Sunday she finished the week on the top step: she won the women's dock start pump foil final in the harbour at Camaret-sur-Mer, and with it the festival's overall women's title. She took the podium with her AXIS Dock 880 pump board.
